Skype for iPhone and touch: 1 million downloads in 24 hours logomacitynet1200wide 1

A new post published on the official Skype blog announces that the iPhone and touch application has already been downloaded 1 million times. The result is even more surprising if you keep in mind that the Apple multi-pocket paperback client was downloaded by 1 million users in just 24 hours. Peter Parkes, curator of the Skype blog, estimates that six copies of the iPhone and touch software have been downloaded per second.

Recall that the Skype program available for free on this App Store page.

The news of the download record achieved by Skype arrives a few hours after the veto imposed by T-Mobile on the use of the application by German users. Skype allows VoIP calls to be made only when a Wi-Fi connection is available and not on a cellular network, but T-Mobile seems willing to consider the use of a Wi-Fi network as an infringement.
