From Friday iPhone in Brazil, Turkey and South Africa

iPhone 3G is getting ready for phase three. Macity spoke about the launch in new countries for this week in early September; at that time our site, citing local sources, had reported a presentation of the phone in Brazil and Turkey for September 26 or 27. Now we learn, always from local sources, that those predictions were accurate that iPhone will arrive in the two countries this Friday.

In Brazil, the presentation of the 26th is announced by various media, even if at the moment the final price or the type of contract is not yet known. But in the largest South American country, a parallel marketing campaign has already started which provides for financing by Bradesco, a local financial company, which offers 24-month installments for the purchase of the mobile phone. The Brazilian operators that will have iPhones are Vivo and Claro. Tim Brasil, who claimed to be able to have the cell phone together with the two competitors counting on the fact that the Italian parent company has iPhones on our market, should not be in the first batch.

In Turkey the launch of 26 clearly spelled out on the website of the local Vodafone branch. Turkcell, the second local operator to have an agreement with Apple, is expected to leave at the same time.

Also on Friday, we learn from South African sources, in particular local customers who had asked to be informed via email, iPhone will also land in South Africa. The price charged by Vodacom (as it is locally called Vodafone) cannot be said to be properly cheap since it would be even higher than the Italian one: 6999 Rand (580 euros) for the 8 GB model and 7999 Rand (670 euros) for the 16 GB model.

Brazil, Turkey and South Africa are three of the largest countries still awaiting the launch of the iPhone, excluding Russia. At the moment it seems that it can exclude the launch of the iPhone in the country of the East already this week. Likely that it can, however, arrive at the end of October, on the 24th or 31st of the month.

On Friday, however, iPhone could debut in some of the smaller countries where Apple already has agreements in place. In the calendar there are still Botswana, Cameron, Central African Republic, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Jordan, Kenya, Latvia, Lithuania, Madagascar, Mali, Malta, Mauritius, Nicaragua, Niger, Panama, Qatar, Senegal, and Venezuela.
