AVM Fritz! DECT 200, an "intelligent" socket for the smart home

FRITZ! DECT 200 an electrical outlet whose activation or deactivation can be planned from anywhere. It is ideal for measuring the electrical consumption of connected devices and based on the safe and now consolidated DECT standard, but first of all this intelligent socket transforms the FRITZ! Box into a home automation control unit capable of managing any electrical device present in the home.

The socket can be controlled by computer and tablet, through the FRITZ! Fon and smartphone, through the dedicated app. The socket supported by all FRITZ! Box models with FRITZ! OS 5.50 or higher firmware, which have a DECT base station.

The device offers various options for individual programming customization, including once, at random, every day, on specific days of the week or according to fixed sequences, defined by the user. The outlet can also be combined with your personal Google calendar, from which you automatically import your appointments. With the integrated function for identifying sunrise and sunset times, the connected electrical appliances are switched on or off according to daylight.

The device measures and records the electrical consumption of the devices connected to it, the collected data are consolidated in the FRITZ! Box interface, where they are illustrated by means of diagrams generated based on the evaluation of various parameters.

It is therefore possible to view performance and operating status, energy consumption and related cost, or even the level of carbon dioxide emissions due to the use of the connected appliance. It is also possible to configure the sending of this information via push mail.

Usage scenarios: automatically turn a lamp or any electrical appliance on or off, including printers, external disks, a web-cam or simply the light of the aquarium. The measurement of consumption allows you to evaluate the actual electrical needs of the TV, household appliances or heat pumps. The operating status and measurements can also be managed via the Internet via the FRITZ! Box.

The manufacturer explains that FRITZ! DECT 200 uses DECT ULE (Ultra Low Energy) technology, a particularly safe and widespread standard. Thanks to encryption and authentication, the factory secure intelligent socket. The technology used protected against any interference and particularly efficient in terms of energy consumption. The electrical requirement between 0.9 and 1.5 watts depending on the operating mode. The socket integrates two switches equipped with LEDs: one to turn the socket on or off manually and a DECT switch to register or disconnect the device from the DECT base station.

To install it, simply plug it into a socket and press the DECT button on the FRITZ! Box: the socket is automatically registered on the base station. The transmission of the radio signal via DECT encrypted from the first use. To configure, simply access the interface of the FRITZ! Box. It is also possible to assign a specific name to each individual socket.
