Apple asks to respect the quarantine for the shareholders' meeting

febrero 28, 2020

Ahead of the 2020 Apple Shareholders' Meeting to be held on Wednesday February 26, Apple has asked attendees traveling from China to adhere to the quarantine guidelines issued by the U.S. Control and Prevention Centers for Disease Control and prevention.

In the notice, which was shared on Twitter this morning, as noted by 9to5Mac, Apple claims to have worked closely with public health experts, and is following the official guidelines of the CDC.

Health and Safety Precautions Apple is following official guidelines on COVID-19 from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is working in close collaboration with public health experts. We ask shareholders who traveled to China in February to make sure they have completed the required 14-day quarantine period before attending the meeting.

Concerns related to Coronavirus have made people wary of attending events with large numbers of people. Some important events have been canceled, such as the Mobile World Congress 2020 (MWC), while upcoming events, such as the Game Developers Conference (GDC) and the Pax East are registering the abandonment of the largest companies in the sector.

The coronavirus, known as COVID-19, initially limited to China, has also reported cases in other countries, such as South Korea, Italy and Iran. Just today, the CDC has warned Americans that COVID-19 is likely to spread to the United States. To date, more than 80,000 people worldwide have contracted the virus.

Apple's shareholder meeting will take place at 9:00 am Pacific Time at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park campus. These meetings provide for a limited number of participations, and a pre-registration for participation is required.

Shareholder meetings are not generally of interest to the general public, because Apple executives share little about Apple products there. Last year, Apple CEO Tim Cook indulged in some comments on the Apple services business and roadmap; similar information could also be shared this year. In this case, we will keep our readers promptly informed.
