Change the signs for the numbering of footnotes and endnotes
In a word processing document, you can switch between custom-signed numbering and default numeric formatting and vice versa.
To change sign numbering styles:
- To change the numbering format from default to custom, Control-click on the sign of a footnote or endnote, then choose Use Custom Sign from the pop-up menu. displayed, type or choose a custom sign and click OK. The custom sign replaces the default sign.
- To change the numbering from custom to default, Control-click on a custom sign, then choose ?Use automatic numbering? from the pop-up menu. To restart the numbering of footnotes or endnotes:
- Choose "Start Over Each Page" or "Start Over Each Section" from the Numbering pop-up menu in the Document panel of "Document Settings".
