iPhone XC, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max: what to expect from the Apple launch event

Apple is about to unveil the 2018 iPhone line to the world on September 12 at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park. The new iPhones weren't leaked as extensively as last year's iPhone X (the Pixel 3 was the unfortunate smartphone it carried in this regard … seriously), but there were enough leaks and rumors on the phone that we have a good idea of ??what Apple is planning with the new line up. Here is what we expect from the new iPhones 2018:

Three variants

Apple is expected to fully embrace the iPhone X's design, giving us three iPhones with a notch and no bezels everywhere. According to several reports, the Cupertino giant will launch three new iPhone variants this year:

1. iPhone XS

The first of the three should be an update from last year's iPhone X and will most likely be called the iPhone XS. The phone should have a 5, 8 inch OLED display, a glass sandwich design like the current iPhone X and a stainless steel frame (like the current iPhone X).

2. iPhone XS Max

The second new iPhone should also have the iPhone X design and a huge 6.5 inch OLED display . This rather huge iPhone is slated to be named iPhone XS Max. The phone is also expected to feature a glass sandwich design with a stainless steel bezel and is expected to be the high-end iPhone this year .

3. iPhone XC

The third iPhone has been called to be called iPhone 9 and even iPhone 11, but we think the final name will be iPhone XC, which has been around for the past two days. Should come with a 6,1 inch LCD display, a glass sandwich design with an aluminum frame instead of stainless steel, all to reduce production costs. This should also come in multiple colors.

Obviously, the new iPhones will come with hardware improvements, camera improvements and hopefully fewer doors.

More colors?

In addition to the iPhone 5C, Apple has never had extra colors for any of its iPhones. However, news is coming from all over that suggests that Apple this year could launch more colors of the cheaper version for iPhone 2018, the one with a 6.1-inch LCD display.

We expect both OLED iPhones to have the same three colors: Space Gray, White and Rose Gold. However, the third 6.1-inch LCD iPhone should be offered in multiple colors to perhaps appeal to a wider audience. If so, we would like it to be offered in colors similar to the palette followed by Apple with the iPhone 5C.

Last year's iPhone X was priced at $ 999 and although most people expected sales to take off (and did), Apple still did quite well with its more expensive iPhone launch. . This year however, the Cupertino giant is said to be going with a more aggressive price. As per reports, the three iPhones should start at the following prices:

  • 6.5 inch OLED model – $ 999
  • 5.8 inch OLED model – $ 899
  • 6.1 inch LCD model – $ 699

The more expensive iPhone still has the same price as last year's iPhone X, but it appears that Apple hopes that the $ 699 iPhone will appeal to a much larger user base than iPhones usually like.

Face ID 2.0

We also expect Apple to launch new iPhones with an improved version of Face ID. In its current state, Face ID is by far the safest facial recognition on any smartphone. However, it does have its limitations. First, there it takes a long time to unlock and this quickly becomes annoying. In addition, Face ID does not work in landscape mode in this moment.

We expect Apple to solve these problems with Face ID 2.0, which means that the new iPhones could have a biometric authentication mechanism that is just as secure as Face ID and, hopefully, also quite fast.

Touch ID is not making a return

Although there have been rumors about Apple working on an under-screen fingerprint scanner (and it could be the company), these iPhones shouldn't have any such technology. Apple will surely stick with Face ID on the new iPhones, as suggested by the reports.

iOS 12

This is not as much as what we expect as what we definitely know about the new iPhones. Obviously they will come with the latest iteration of Apple's mobile operating system, which offers a host of new features and performance improvements.

iPhone 2018: exciting or boring?

This is more or less what we expect from the iPhone 2018 line that Apple is preparing to launch this Wednesday. As iPhone leaks have become more and more accurate over the years, we expect this year to be no different in detail on the new iPhones. Apple is also expected to launch a lot of other things, and you can see them all live. Of course, you will receive updates within the minute on – we will burn midnight oil to bring you the latest news from the big Apple event.
