Milan, September 26, 2001 – Apple today announced that version 10.1 of Mac OS X, the first major update of the new generation Apple operating system, will be available in stores starting September 29, 2001. Mac OS X v10.1 combines the strength of UNIX with the simplicity and elegance of the Macintosh. This major Mac OS X update provides significantly improved performance, a revised Aqua user interface, and unprecedented support for media and digital devices including DVDs, MP3s, CDs, MP3 players, printers, digital cameras and DV camcorders.
The Mac OS X package for sale is available at a price of 299,000 lire including VAT. Existing Mac OS X users can get the update thanks to the standard Mac OS Up-to-Date program at only the shipping cost of Lit.39.500. A free Instant Up-to-Date kit for updating Mac OS X users will be available until October 31, 2001, or while supplies last, at Apple resellers.
