How to install Android L Preview Factory Image on Nexus 5 and …

Google presented yesterday at its Google I / O event the preview of the next version of the mobile operating system which will be called Android L. There are many new features of this new OS, which will have to be tested before seeing the official and final release of this firmware. After the release of the binary files, let's see how install Android L on your Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.

In the premise we must remember that Android L only in its first beta versiontherefore many of the new features may not be already active immediately, or may not function correctly. So we recommend installing this firmware only to those who are truly willing to try out Google's future mobile operating system.

Requirements:

Android L installation guide for those who do not have the bootloader unlocked

  • Download SDK and copy it to disk C of your computer,
  • Download the windows drivers and install them, press Y in the procedure
  • Turn off the Nexus
  • Turn on Nexus in Fast Boot (Volume Jun + Power)
  • Connect Nexus to PC (driver installer)
  • Go to the unzipped SDK folder
  • Press the Shift key + right mouse button on the PC
  • Click onOpen Command Window Here
  • To type:
  • Wait for the end of the procedure and type: fastboot reboot
  • The phone will restart and the phone will reset

Flash Factory Image:

  • Extract the downloaded image, do it 2 times as the image contains another .tar file inside, we recommend using the free 7zip program.
  • Turn off the Nexus
  • Turn on Nexus in Fast Boot (Volume Jun + Power)
  • Connect the Nexus to the PC
  • Click on the flash-all.bat (Windows) or flash-all.sh (MAC and LINUX) file found in the extracted folder
  • Wait for the procedure to complete
  • The phone should reset itself and start automatically. If not
    • Select recovery with the volume keys
    • press power to confirm
    • As soon as the green robot appears, press power + volume up
    • Select "Wipe data / factory data reset"
    • reboot
