Russia: 1.8 million iPhones per year
After the rumors about the three Russian operators authorized to market iPhones, see this Macity article today, the figures are now leaked. The economic newspaper Vedemosti cites anonymous sources from which it is learned that the two operators Beeline (the owner of Vimpelcom) and MegaFon would both have reached an agreement with Apple to market 1.5 million smartphones each in two years. The Russian newspaper itself, and later taken up by Reuters, announces that Mobile TeleSystems, the main Russian mobile operator, would have signed an agreement with Cupertino to market 1 million pieces in three years.
Finally, the sale price of the smartphone without subscription and contracts is indicated for the first time: well 1000 dollars, equal to about 670 euros, while it does not change the price set by Apple in 200 dollars to get iPhone with a two-year contract.
