Terratec Cynergy Diversity: ultra-mobile digital terrestrial tested
If the Mac and Windows market now crowded with solutions for the reception of digital terrestrial TV on a USB 2.0 stick for some time now, it is possible to have tuners capable of exploiting the "diversity" technology both to record one channel while watching another, both to improve reception even with portable antennas, and to watch TV in motion on a bus, on a car and also on a train.Macitynet has tried for a long time, both in Italy and abroad, the first of the models appeared on the market: Cynergy DT USB XS Diversity in Mac version.
The diversity tuners have a dual digital terrestrial tuner that works in two modes: the first allows you to receive two channels at the same time (for image-in-image functions and for recording any channel while watching another) , the second mode that the real "Diversity" is played by comparing the signal received from the two antennas pointing in different directions for optimized reception even on the move or in locations where the signal of the single antenna (especially if it is the portable ones) weak.
The "diversity" technology that appeared on TV tuners for Mac in 2006, the year in which Terratec presented its first model at the Paris Expo (and deserves our Best of Expo award).
The model we are talking about in this review has been tried for a long time both in "local" and in some trips abroad with different configurations and accessories and we can in fact express a "thoughtful" opinion on its effectiveness.
