Apple dominates the market true wireless earphones with AirPods and will continue to do so throughout 2020, according to the recent Counterpoint Research analysis. It is therefore not surprising that the Cupertino company is committed to further expanding and differentiating the offer with new models that will arrive in the coming months. To give clues in this sense is a relationship of Digitimes which underlines how Apple is strengthening relationships with Taiwanese companies face the emergence of the coronavirus (COVID-19) which will affect the production levels guaranteed by the Chinese partners.
Among the products that will be made in Taiwan the source expressly mentions "AirPod Pro Lite"(the typo – the AirPod" s "is missing – is not ours, Digitimes he calls them just like that), as well as a generic reference to the new generation iPad, Apple Watch and iMac. Unfortunately, for the moment, nothing is known about the technical characteristics of the new AirPods: all speculations about it revolve at the term "Lite" which suggests a variant of the current AirPods Pro with features revised downwards.
However, it is not clear in what sense, given that in the current catalog, the non-Pro AirPods earphones already pose as a Lite variant of the Pro: the current second generation model introduced in March 2019 renounces the active noise reduction technology, all adaptive equalization and resistance to water and sweat and costs less than the Pro version that arrived on the market in October last year (100 or 50 euros less if you choose to buy it respectively with or without wireless housing).
It is possible that the source actually refers to the third generation of AirPods (not Pro) or actually to a variant that will inherit only some features of the Pro. More rumors are expected to trace the contours of the product with more precision.
