Apple confirms: purchased Spruce
Official time: Apple has purchased Spruce Technologies. The Cupertino company confirmed in the night that it had taken control of the company specializing in DVD authoring products in some statements released to the American press.
Cupertino for did not provide details on how he intends to include Spruce's applications in his strategy, limiting himself to underlining how "the acquisition further strengthens Apple's position as the main platform for DVD authoring. Apple will offer a plan to migrate existing Spruce customers to help them preserve their investments in Spruce software. "
Recall that the San Jos company currently produces packages, both professional and consumer level, for the creation of DVDs but only for the Windows environment. It is unclear how Apple intends to use this software in its market strategy; in all likelihood, given the previous ones, Cupertino will integrate Spruce technologies into its Mac packages abandoning the Windows platform. Nor can it be ruled out that Apple may have seen in Spruce's technologies a way to bring DVD burning to MacOs X more easily.
