Here is the complete and detailed guide to install Mac OS X Mountain Lion on Windows PC
A few weeks ago Apple released the new Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 operating system.
In various articles we have seen together all the news introduced by Apple with this new operating system and we have also seen together how to download it completely free.
Today, however, we will go to see together how to install Mountain Lion 10.8 on a Windows PC.
Let's not get lost in further and useless chatter and let's start immediately with the guide.
Premise: take every step at your own risk. Do it all only if you have a minimum of experience in this field, because you may have to face various problems that cannot be easily solved.
With that said, let's get started.
How to install OS X Mountain Lion on a PC
Minimum hardware to install OSX Mountain Lion 10.8:
- Processor: Intel Celeron Gxxx series, Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, Xeon
- RAM: At least 2GB of
- Disk space: At least 40GB available on SATA hard disk and configured in AHCI mode
- An NVidia, ATI or Intel HD video card
- UniBeast Drive USB click here to download or here
- Mountain Lion, downloadable from the AppStore or from here
- Minimum 8GB of USB flash drives
- A Mac with Mountain Lion installed
After seeing the minimum requirements, let's start with the real guide.
Phase 1:Download the updated and current version of UniBeast on the Mac
Phase 2:After the software has been downloaded, the first step is to create a bootable USB drive containing OS X Mountain Lion. Always head to the Mac in Applications> Utilities> Disk Utility
Phase 3:Select lcurrentmenu and choose the optionpartition,as shown in the photo.
Phase 4:In the categorypartitionselect Options and make sure that the option “Master Boot Recordis checked, then click Ok.
Phase 5:On the right side of the Disk Utility window there are options for the USB drive letter. You can choose a name right away or you can do it later. Under the Format header, make sureMac OS Extended (Journaled)is selectedapplybefore selecting thepartition.
Phase 6:Run UniBeast 1.5.1
Phase 7:When UniBeast is running, access the first settings, before selecting the corresponding USB device on the screen select the destination of the file. PoiScegliereKeep on, then you must enter the system password for approval. UniBeast will then search for the Mountain Lion installation file in /Applications and install it on the USB disk.
Once the process is complete, USB will have a working version of Mountain Lion installed on a PC.
Phase 8:Insert USB into the PC you want to turn into a Hackintosh and make sure your computer is set to boot from USB via the BIOS.
Note:Steps 9 11 are required for new installations only. If you are upgrading from an existing installation of Mac OS X Snow Leopard and OS X Lion these steps may be skipped.
Phase 9:After booting from the disk, you should see the OS X installer. Set the desired language, choose the Utilities option in the menu bar before selecting Utility Disk. Select the target hard drive for installing Mountain Lion on your PC and click onpartitioncard.
Phase 10:Once again, we select the drop-down menu, then select the first onepartitionbefore selectingOptionsand choose GUID Partition Table.
Phase 11:Type Macintosh HD as the partition name and once again set the formatMac OS Extended (Journaled).
Phase 12:click on applythen on partitionbefore closing the Disk Utility.
Phase 13:Now just install Mountain Lion on this hard drive.
At this point you just have to wait for the conclusion of the installation. Then you will have successfully installed Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 on your PC.
But we still don't have a fully functional Hackintosh PC with the latest Mac operating system. Last, not least, step is to install the drivers for your machine. This can be done using the MultiBeast tool, which can still be found in the downloads section on the tonymacx86 website.
