Music applications on iPhone, not Apple? – Macitynet.it
The restrictions that Apple seems to want to apply to its SDK continue to increase: the latter would seem to concern musical functions. To preserve the dominance of iTunes on its portable device, Apple would have decided to exclude from its development program all those who would be interested in proposing applications that would compete with iTunes.
This means that, for example, Amazon or eMusic will not be able to offer applications for downloading music from their online stores, as they are potentially competitive for the Apple music store.
A clue to this limitation witnessed by the beta version of the SDK, through which it is impossible for developers to access any iTunes music functionality. It will thus also be impossible to develop plug-ins for widely used services, such as the popular Last.fm, often integrated to expand the functionality of the Apple online store.
