Digital Hub: Intel notices six months later … – Macitynet.it
At MacWorld in San Francisco, January 2001, Steve Jobs explained that the future of the PC, understood as a Personal Computer, was to transform itself into a real "digital hub": the idea, also represented graphically, was to make become the Mac the center, the landing place of a whole series of peripherals and digital devices that are changing our way of life and our approach to technology. We are used to seeing Apple's ideas copied, replicated, to see advertising of computers photographed in the same poses as those of Cupertino (remember the Wintosh series of Olidata or the Fujitsu laptops?) but it is surprising that Intel does not find anything better than copying textual and visual concept from Apple campaigns to launch its Pentium 4. Open the second page of many magazines dedicated to Wintel PCs: you must be amazed! With the slogan "At the center of your digital world", the performance of Pentium 4 is enhanced to manage the new devices that powerful processors to handle the new workload cease…
Who knows why Apple computers manage it so well even with 400 or 500 mhz processors instead of 1200 and go … But the most interesting thing is the image that accompanies the message: an LCD display with all around digital peripherals, PDAs, MP3 players, cameras, digital cameras represented with the simple foresight not to use the exact same models.
Once again Apple proves to be more advanced in ideas, in the conception of new ways of using the computer and competitors follow a few months after the road already traced, testifying to the validity of the direction taken by Cupertino.
It is up to users to recognize who provides the smartest solutions first and take advantage of them.
