1 – Customize the appearance
We really start from the basics of Chrome tricks, with the possibility of visually customize the browser. Just open the settings (three dots at the top right) and scroll down until you meet the Aspect group.
You can click on themes, in fact, to download a different one from the standard one Chrome Web Store, you can hide or show the home button and the bookmarks bar, you can increase or decrease the font size and customize them, you can zoom the pages and highlight or not link and fields of the modules by pressing the Tab key.
2 – Keyboard shortcuts
Another key among the Chrome tricks is that of keyboard shortcuts that allow you to speed up the experience a lot without ever taking your hands off or hovering over the mouse. Here is the list of the most useful:
- Ctrl + 1 to 8 = to move to the corresponding tab
- Ctrl + 9 = to go to the last tab
- Ctrl + H = show the history
- Ctrl + J = open the download window
- Ctrl + K = type in the Omnibox (search bar)
- Ctrl + T = open new tab
- Ctrl + Shift + T = reopen a closed tab

3 – Exploit the potential of Omnibox
Chrome's address bar is much more than a simple field to indicate URLs since it uses Google search functions, for example to perform mathematical calculations or to answer specific questions. The answer is shown without clicking send.
4 – Open certain tabs on startup
Always from the settings page, you can choose whether to open a new tab when starting the browser, or to reopen those that were selected at the time of the last closure, or to open a series of specific pages by indicating the links.
5 – Change the location of the downloads
If we want to change the destination of the files that are downloaded by default in the Downloads folder we can open settings scroll down, open position and change. Alternatively, you can select the destination from time to time by activating the "Ask where to save the file before downloading" command.
6 – Put a pin on a card
If a particularly important card just click on the right button and select lock card with the result that will be positioned on the left, showing only the icon one way for another, also to save space in the list of cards.
7 – Mute the sound of the cards
If an open card has annoying sound, it is not necessary to disable the general sound of the device, but just right-click on the card and select Mute audio.
8 – Synchronize Chrome with the Google Account
From Settings you can activate the synchronization of Chrome with the Google account from the first menu at the top. Baster click on Add account and activate synchronization so that if we use different devices it will be easier to access passwords, favorites and other personalized settings.
9 – Use the auto-complete feature
Filling out forms and online questionnaires is really very boring, but even with Chrome it is possible to facilitate everything with the automatic completion system. Still from the settings menu, scroll down to open advanced and, in the password and forms field, open the Auto-fill settings menu.
From there you can fill in the various registry entries and personal information so that they are then automatically entered when requested.
10 – Resize the text entry boxes
This is a feature that Chrome includes directly by default, but which we often don't consider. In the forms to be filled out, it may happen that a box is too small for the text to be inserted, but just hold down the lower right corner and drag with the mouse cursor to easily resize.
11 – Use the Chrome Task Manager
From the three dots at the top right scroll down to other tools and Open Task Manager to get a complete view of the resources used at a given moment and how they are distributed among the various tabs or extensions installed. Clicking down on Statistics for nerds you will have an even more detailed look.
12 – Print easily with Google Cloud Print
In a natural communication between Google services, you can use Google Cloud Print to print wirelessly from computers, smartphones or tablets at work as at home directly from Chrome. To configure the compatible printer just go to Settings and scroll down to Google Cloud Print and open the menu.
13 – Add desktop shortcut
Turn each page into a sort of app by creating a quick desktop shortcut. After opening the address, click on the three dots> Tools> Add to Desk.
14 – Cast the page on TV with Chromecast
If you want to transmit the page and everything that follows (video or audio) to the TV, you can go through a device like Chromecast. After configuring it, always opening the three dots at the top right and scrolling to Broadcast will start broadcasting. Very useful for streaming services that are not natively supported by TV applications.
15 – Use the quick and specific commands of Chrome
By ending with the most advanced settings, opening this address you will have access to quick access commands to some hidden functions: from information on the GPU to any ongoing conflicts or DNS information.
