WhatsApp will soon allow you to share all types of files

The most annoying limitation in the attachment transfer function has been cleared, while photos and videos can transit without being compressed

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - FEBRUARY 19: The Facebook and WhatsApp app icons are displayed on an iPhone on February 19, 2014 in San Francisco City. A long-awaited feature on WhatsApp is coming, although perhaps not really by the vast majority of users: the possibility to share any type of file and document between contacts, exactly as it now happens for photographs, films and audio clips. The user community headed by wabetainfo has revealed it in advance, but the news should already be gradually being released by the versions Android, iOS, web and Windows Phone app.

With the update (which is expected to be particularly slow) the platform in force at Facebook is approaching what the opponent Telegram can already do, but among the news in the field of file transfer there is not only an expansion of the list of attachments supported. Photos and videos will finally be able transit through the company's servers in an uncompressed format and arrive on the recipients' smartphones as exact copies of the documents sent, while so far the process has always provided for WhatsApp to reduce the original file to the minimum terms to send it faster, with consequent loss of quality. The only limit to sending files seems to be the size: strangely, the highest limit will be on the OS, where documents will be able to reach the size of 128 MB each, while on Android they will be limited to 100 MBand even on the web 64.
