Apple wants to give more "power" to MacBooks, thus allowing even the most demanding professionals to take full advantage of the performance offered by Cupertino laptops, including the 16-inch model that we had the opportunity to review in early December and the Mac Pro, available for purchase since last month ..
A first reference in this sense is provided by the last build of macOS Catalina 10.15.3 beta: 9to5mac.com has identified some strings of code containing a call to a new "Pro mode"whose details, unfortunately, are still rather lackluster.
All that we know we owe precisely to the strings of the beta build, which specifies that this new feature will be able to improve the speed of opening apps. A greater temporary power which will however have the "defect" of affect the battery more and on the speed of the fans (the latter should increase to avoid thermal throttling phenomena).
Apps may run faster, but battery life may decrease and fan noise will increase.
Fan speed limit canceled.
Thanks to Pro Mode, which can be activated or deactivated by users at their convenience and according to the needs of the moment, it will therefore be possible to temporarily improve the performance of the product, ignoring some of the energy saving restrictions provided by default by Apple.
The timing of release of this function is currently unknown. According to the source, availability may be limited to 16 "MacBooks only, but further confirmations are awaited.
