The messaging platform continues to rush out of the top 500 of the most downloaded apps on Android. The precedents are worrying but not all lost
Google Allo is dangerously approaching the abyss of interrupted, hijacked or trashed projects from the Mountain View home. The instant messaging app had generated curiosities before the launch and in the weeks immediately following, gaining a more or less fixed place in the ranking of the most downloaded; exhausted the novelty effect for things have changed rapidly.
According to the findings of the analysis company App Annie, Allo is in fact continuing to intermittently sliding out of the ranking of the 500 most downloaded apps within the Play Store. The last episode dates back to this week, but the reiteration of the phenomenon means that the platform is not having much hold on those who installed it or attracting those who have not yet had the opportunity to have a look at it.
an intrinsic risk to this kind of app, where it counts above all the fact that they are spread to friends and acquaintances. It is not uncommon for valid software to be snubbed in favor of more sparse alternatives: Whatsapp has always been at the top of the popularity charts but often lags behind the competition in terms of functionality offered has long been exemplary in this sense. To this must be added that the Google platform, although promising, does not have particular qualities compared to the adversaries (apart from the integration with Google Assistant). Not all lost, but to re-instill a bit of vitality in Allo, the Mountain View house needs a series of innovations that make it if not indispensable at least unique and original in the eyes of users.
