Lenovo has brought many new products to the CES in Las Vegas: laptops and peripherals of the Legion line, ThinkVision monitors, an AiO ThinkCentre and new ThinkPad laptops, among which the X1 Fold stands out, the first folding laptop in the world that we have shown with our video preview. The news extends to fans of the motor world with the Lenovo Ducati 5 and goes further until it reaches the range of Yoga laptops and Ideapads based on ChromeOS. In this article we deal in particular with:

YOGA 5G

Lenovo chose the stage of the CES 2020 to implement the project that had been presented at the last edition of Computex: the the world's first laptop with 5G connectivity it leaves the prototype state and has a date of arrival on the market and a price: it will be available in the spring at $ 1,499.

Yoga 5G it's a 2-in-1, based on the operating system Windows 10 on ARM, has a hardware equipment including:

  • SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx with Adreno 680 GPU (the official platform for the 2019 edition of the MWC)
  • 5G modem compatible with 5G sub-6 GHz and mmWave frequencies
  • 14 "IPS display with resolution FullHD, touch screen and maximum brightness of 400 nits
  • Double front speaker, Dolby Atmos audio
  • IR camera, fingerprint reader
  • Connectivity: 2 USB-C ports, 3.5mm audio jack
  • Autonomy declared: up to 24 hours

Yoga 5G represents a further evolutionary step of the program "Always On, Always Connected"by Qualcomm, through which the company, in collaboration with its partners, wants to offer chipsets suitable for use in Windows 10 laptops designed to always remain connected to the data network (without the need to have a WiFi hotspot nearby), reaching the at the same time a good mix of performance and consumption.

YOGA SLIM 7

Yoga Slim 7 it's a traditional laptop, available in the version with 14 "and 15" screen. The 14 "screen model can be configured both with the AMD Ryzen 4000 series processors with integrated graphics presented today, and with Intel CPU (up to the 10th generation Core i7) and Intel Iris Plus video cards or the latest GeForce MX from NVIDIA.

Always for the 14 "version there are two finishes: one with the back in fabric, the second all in metal; the first has a thickness of 15.4 mm and a weight of 1.55 kilograms, which become 14 respectively, 9 mm and 1.5 kilograms in the second. The first variant can be configured optionally with a 4K panel; the all-metal version instead provides only an FHD screen. Three colors are available: Slate Gray, Orchid and Dark Moss.

For the 15 "model there are configurations with 10th generation Intel Core processors, which can be combined with video cards up to Nvidia's GeForce GTX. Among the peculiar features of this model, the screen-body ratio of 90% and autonomy stands out which reaches 13 hours (the battery supports fast charging). Common features both include:

  • Configurations up to a maximum of 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and PCIe SSD up to 1TB
  • Audio Dolby Atmos
  • WiFi 6 optional
  • Alexa support:
    • Lenovo points out that Yoga Slim 7 laptops will be the first to support Amazon's voice assistant. Compatibility will be extended to other Lenovo PCs later in the year
  • Lenovo Q-Control: uses artificial intelligence to manage the cooling system and optimize battery life
  • IR camera with Windows Hello support
  • Windows 10 operating system

Yoga Slim 7 14 " will be available in spring with prices starting from $ 1,209 for versions with Intel CPUs and $ 849 for those with AMD CPUs. Yoga Slim 7 15 "will arrive in the same period with prices starting from $ 1,209.99 (as mentioned, only with Intel CPU). Further details on availability in other markets will be communicated later.

IDEAPAD DUET CHROMEBOOK AND FLEX 5 CHROMEBOOK

IdeaPad Duet is presented by Lenovo as the thinnest and lightest Chromebook in the world (measuring 239.8 x 159, 8 x 7, 35 mm and the tablet part has a weight of 430 grams) and promises up to 10 hours in duration battery. It's a laptop 2-in-1 with integrated stand (offers a maximum inclination of 135 degrees) and separable screen from keyboard: the display is a 10.1 "unit with panel IPS FHD (1920 x 1200 pixels) and maximum brightness level of 400 nits.

At the base of the hardware platform is the SoC MediaTek Helio P60T, combined with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of eMMC memory (Espandibil). To enrich the standard equipment there is the fingerprint reader, a double speaker and 1 USB-C port. The keyboard to be attached to the screen is supplied, while the stylus can be purchased optionally.

IdeaPad Flex 5 is instead a laptop with a 13 "screen and a weight of 1.35 kilograms. It can be configured with processors up to Intel Core i5 and storage compartment with 128GB PCie SSD. The memory allocation is equal to 8GB, while the screen IPS has FHD resolution and a maximum brightness of 300 nits.

Do not miss a double front speaker and stylus support. Again thedeclared autonomy is 10 hours. WiFI 6 connectivity, 720p webcam and splash-proof backlit keyboard complete the standard equipment. The connectivity compartment includes two USB 3.1 Type-C ports, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type A port and the 3.5mm audio connector.

The availability of IdeaPad Duet and Flex 5 in the North American market is set for May and June 2020 respectively. IdeaPad Duet prices start at $ 279.99, Flex 5 prices at $ 359.
