The next update of Android Auto could be the most significant for the Google platform dedicated to the infotainment systems of four-wheeled vehicles. The Mountain View house has in fact anticipated some interesting improvements that will be introduced in the software package, among which one stands out: the possibility of using it also on Android smartphones, or without the need for any multimedia system installed in the passenger compartment.

The Android Auto app will have its own version dedicated to the phone display, which will start if no infotainment systems to connect to are found. The simplified interface, clearly visible notifications without having to get too distracted from driving, the characters and keys are enlarged and the navigation, telephony and music functions are always accessible at the first touch. In this way the platform destined to get to know a wide diffusion also among those who still have an old generation carwhich is most people.

Other changes made to the platform include the native support to Waze and the one for recognizing voice activation commands; what Google forgot to specify unfortunately when the update in question is made available.
