Nautilus the default file browser for the environment Gnome in Ubuntu . Nautilus Actions a tool for Nautilus which allows you to add programs to the context or context menu in Gnome . It allows you to right-click on a file, such as a text file, and select the program with which to open the file from the pop-up menu.
To install the Nautilus shares, open a window of Terminal and enter the following:
sudo apt-get install nautilus-actions
Once installed Nautilus Actions, to select Preferences | Nautilus Actions configuration from the menu System .
It is the dialog box appears Nautilus shares . To add a new action, click add .
The dialog appears Add a new action .
For this example, we are adding an option " Open with Amarok "to the context menu, so we can right click on a file .mp3 and open it in the reader Amarok . Insert " Open with Amarok "as the label for the menu item in the edit box Label .
If you want to view one tooltip, enter the desired text in the edit box Suggestion . We left it blank. To select an icon, click the button Browse . The dialog box appears nautilus shares, which provides a list of pixmaps to select from. Scroll down to find the icon of Amarok as in the photo below and click on it.
click on You open to select the icon and return to the dialog Add one new action . To select the program Amarok, click on Browse next to the edit box Path in the dialog Add one new action (pictured above). In the dialog box nautilus shares, scroll down to find amarok in the list in the right pane and click on it.
click on You open to select the program and return to the dialog Add a new action .
If you want to specify any parameter to send to the selected program, add them using the edit box Parameters . Click on the button Legend to display a list of formats for the different parameters that can be used. Parameters are command-line options used when calling an application.
NOTE : to find the parameters available for the selected application, open a Terminal window and run " (command) -help "(e.g." Amarok -help "), or, for a more detailed description, use" man (command)) '(e.g., amarok man ).
There are no parameters we wanted to add for Amarok, so we left the edit box blank Parameters . Do click up OK to accept the changes and close the dialog Add one new action .
Then click Close in the dialog Nautilus shares .
Let's open the folder Music from the menu Places to access our file .mp3 .
We right-click on the file .mp3 and the option Open with Amarok available.
You can add shortcuts to other applications for the types of files you use often.
