The app that lets children know the monuments of Naples

A "Digital Pulcinella" that guides children to discover the wonders of the historic center of Naples. The famous Neapolitan mask at the center of the project app My Fair City, which aims to introduce children to the beauty of fascinating places in Naples such as Piazza San Domenico or Palazzo Petrucci.

The app, which was presented today, is installed on tablets and creates an interactive visit system set on a language suitable for children. Step by step, moving in the historical center, children receive information in a narrative style reminiscent of fairy tales and who also uses games and riddles: in this way they learn things about the various places in which they find themselves, in a path followed by a network of sensors and from Gps system.

children 2To some points of interest, then, also combined with the augmented reality which superimposes a video animation on the reality shot through the tablet camera supplied to the little tourist. In addition, there is the possibility of using the "whisper" functionality, which makes the app also suitable for group visits with the "guide" who can send voice messages to the whole party.

Developed for the operating system Android, the app was designed to allow both pre-established routes and free exploration and tested on a group of children aged between 8 and 13 years.

The project was carried out by a network of companies, universities and research centers made up of Space SpA, Cooperativa Le Nuvole, University Consortium of Industrial and Managerial Economics (Cueim – Naples) and the University of Suor Orsola Benincasa of Naples and funded by Campania region.
