The platform partners, including the BBC, will provide user-accessible video content
Spotify will show videos selected by platform partners, including BBC, ESPN, Vice Media and Maker Studios. Streaming music services are many and at the same price, there are not many cards to play against the competition: we work on the efficiency of the app, on the ability to offer advice that truly adheres to users' tastes, and offer exclusives. The additional content, in fact, are part of the attempt to become competitive.
Announced among the news in May, Spotify has worked to implement the video function. The first available content will be shown to users Android in the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Germany.
The details are not many, but according to reports in the Wall Street Journal, the most successful videos are clearly those related in some way to music. They could also be organized into playlists, and are part of a series of innovations introduced by the platform: from DJ mode to facilitate enjoyment during parties, to Concerts, the function that recommends live shows based on your geolocation.
