Precautions

  1. This guide compatible with almost all Android devices currently on the market. TWRP Recovery can be installed on devices with Android Jelly Bean, KitKat, Lollipop, Marshmallow, Nougat and O.

  3. Charge your device at least up to 50%, to prevent it from turning off during the installation phase.
  4. If possible, use the original USB-microUSB cable to connect the device to the PC.
  5. Disable your PC's antivirus.
  6. Enable the mode USB debugging. To do this, first activate the menuDeveloper optionsgoing inSettings->Phone infoand clicking 7 times onBuild number. At this point recatiinSettings->Developer optionsand enable the modeUSB debugging.

Guide to install TWRP 3.0.x Recovery on Android devices

This method works for most Android devices. You can easily flash the file TWRP.img on your smartphone or tablet HTC, Sony, Google, LG, Huawei, Oppo, Motorola and all devices that are supported by TWRP for flash via the file with extension .img.

NOTE: if you own a Samsung device the procedure is slightly different and will be shown at the end of this guide.

In order for this method to work, you need to set up ADB and Fastboot on your PC. Another method is to flash the file TWRP.img using applications like Flashify or Flash Gordon, but these require root permissions to function. However, both methods are shown below.

Install TWRP 3.0.x Recovery.img using ADB and Fastboot

  • First make sure you have ADB and Fastboot on your PC. If not, you can read our guide that explains how to install ADB and Fastboot on Windows.
  • Download the TWRP recovery 3.0.x.img from this link, being careful to download the version compatible with your device. After the download is complete, rename the file to TWRP.img.
  • After downloadingTWRP Recovery image, copy this file into the ADB and Fastboot folder. If you followed our guide to install ADB and Fastboot, then the folder will be located in C: Android-adb.
  • Open the ADB and Fastboot folder (in our case the folder Android-adb) inside which the file will also be found TWRP.img, right click in an empty space and select Open command window here.
  • Now, making sure you have enabled USB Debug mode on your device as shown above, connect the latter to the PC.
  • In the command prompt, enter the following commands, pressing enter at the end of each one:
adb devices
adb reboot-bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img

After running the last command, wait for the recovery flash. At the end of the operation you can restart the smartphone and start using TWRP Recovery.

Install TWRP 3.0.x Recovery.img using Flashify

Make sure that your Android device has root permissions (on Guideitech you can find many guides in the related section). Once done, you can proceed with the guide.

  • Download and install Flashify on your Android smartphone or tablet.
  • Download the TWRP recovery 3.0.x.img from this link, being careful to download the version compatible with your device. After the download is complete, rename the file to TWRP.img.
  • Transfer this file to your device's internal memory.
  • Start Flashify and, if prompted via a popup, grant root permissions.
  • Click on the button FLASH.
  • Now select the button Recovery image, search for the previously transferred file, select it and follow the instructions that will appear on the screen to start the installation process.

At the end of the installation you can restart the smartphone or tablet in recovery mode using the Flashfy app or using the key combination for your device.

Install TWRP 3.0.x Recovery.img.tar on Samsung Galaxy devices

  • Download the TWRP recovery 3.0.x.img from this link, being careful to download the version compatible with your device.
  • Download and extract the Odin 3.10.6 tool on your Windows PC.
  • Start your Samsung Galaxy in Download mode. To do this, turn off the device completely and then restart it while holding down the keys Volume Gi + Home + Power until a warning appears. At this point, press the button Volume Up to continue and access the download mode.
  • Now connect the Samsung Galaxy to the PC and start the tool Odin previously downloaded.
  • Odin will show a yellow or blue box in the section ID: COM. This indicates that the device has been recognized correctly. If not, install the drivers for your device on your PC.
  • Now click on the button PDA (if this button is not present then click on AP). Search and open the file recovery.img.tar previously downloaded.
  • Make sure only the boxes Auto Rebootboth off and on F. Reset Time is active.
  • Now click on Start to start the installation process. At the end of the procedure the device will automatically restart. To start the recovery mode, from the completely off device, keep the keys pressed Volume Up + Home + Power.
