The workshop was held in Paris on 11 April Web to Print: the new eldorado du commerce de limprim? organized by the prestigious French magazine Caractere. A busy day of work that brought together many traditional printers and entrepreneurs interested in learning more about the dynamics and potential of the web to print.
To reveal the secrets and ways of developing the W2P, several speakers including representatives of trade associations, manufacturers of printing systems but above all entrepreneurs who have already discovered and developed this eldorado. Among the successful case histories, all Made in France except one, the intervention of Matteo Rigamonti President of Pixartprinting, the only outsider of the event invited by the organization to reveal the recipe for the European success of the Venetian company.
Italian creativity is expressed through the words of Rigamonti who enchanted the audience, telling his experience in an acute and original way, retracing the stages that led Pixartprinting to be among the main players of W2P in Europe. A reality that counts today 195 employees, 80,000 customers, 3,000 jobs per day and includes a production department where they have recently been installed two 8-color Komori 70 × 100 which will be among the big news in world preview at the next Drupa but which in Pixartprinting are already operating at full speed. The recipe for transforming a craft activity into an industrial process? According to Rigamonti, several ingredients are needed: A mix of unconsciousness, entrepreneurial ability, vision, but also of more personal purposes such as paying for a house that I could not afford. Set goals that you cannot achieve; this will stimulate your brain to find hidden resources to bring you profitable ideas.
Not only life philosophies, but also numbers and reflections on the business model: What matters is not the product you sell but how you sell it. This is what makes the difference. The web to print is nothing so revolutionary, just a different way of selling a product that has always existed. Among Rigamonti's various suggestions, the exhortation to be innovative and pioneering, to offer solutions that simplify people's lives, to focus on marketing using predatory tactics and taking advantage of the halo effect, leaving aside sentimentality and having business development as its sole objective. A provocative and scratchy intervention by Rigamonti, who clears the cards and displaces so much that he lights the audience. At the end of the presentation, the public asked various questions, from the marketing strategy to the budget, from development policies to investments in production systems. Pixartprinting abroad also leaves its mark, even if the warm welcome on arrival already hinted that the presence of the Italian player was expected by many who greeted Matteo as an old friend.
