IPhone screen lock and security tips

The iPhone lock screen switched from having little useful information on it to becoming a virtual billboard that lets you view notifications, alerts and app messages. Some of this information may be strictly personal and you probably don't want someone around you to see them. If you leave your iPhone unattended on your desk, anyone will be able to see your notifications also private. It would be useful in this case to activate the iPhone screen lock and keep your notifications safe.

If this is a major privacy issue for you, there is a way to get notifications without the rest of the world seeing them on your lock screen. The first thing to do is to create and use a strong access code to protect your iPhone's lock screen from prying eyes.

For the iPhone screen lock, use an access code

One of the most important things you can do to protect your phone while you are away, implement an access code, not just the 4-digit one, but something more difficult to decipher. If you want serious protection, you need to set a valid security code that will seriously protect the data on your phone.

How to create a complex access code for your iPhone

  1. Touch the icon Settingson the iPhone main screen.
  2. Scroll up to Touch ID and code. To go to the next screen you need to enter the current access code, if one is enabled.
  3. Tap Change code and enter the existing access code again.
  4. Before entering the new access code, click on Code options that you find above the keyboard. This causes three options to appear which allow you to enter a complex access code longer than four digits. It also allows the use of alphanumeric and special characters.IPhone 2 screen lock

Choose the apps from which you'd like to view Notifications on the lock screen

After entering a strong access code, you can now choose which apps you want to be displayed on the notifications screen and hide those you don't want to be visible. That's how:

  1. Touch the icon Settingson the main screen.
  2. Tap Notifications. A list of apps that offer notifications to be displayed in will appear Notification Center available from the lock screen.
  3. Tap the app you want to limit notifications to.
  4. In the section Notifications, use the switch next to Show on screen lock to activate the function.IPhone 3 screen lock

  6. Repeat the process with each app in the list to enable or disable its ability to display notifications on the initial lock screen.

Disable notification center access on the lock screen

If you prefer, you can avoid allowing anyone who picks up your phone to see notifications. Completely disable access to the Notification Center from the lock screen as follows:

  1. Touch the icon Settingson the iPhone main screen.
  2. Tap Notifications and move the cursor next to Allow notifications in the position disabled.

That's all. Choose whether and how to display notifications on the lock screen by following these simple steps. You can choose to enter a password to view notifications or just to prevent some apps from displaying notifications on the lock screen.
