However, there is a department where WhatsApp has received criticism over the years, and this is the compression of images. true, WhatsApp has always been known to compress image files sent to the instant messaging platform, thus reducing the quality of the image by a significant margin. Although we realize that done to speed up file transfer, not everyone prefers speed over quality. So, are you interested in sending the entire image file without compression and sacrifice on the image quality? Send photos at full resolution on WhatsApp in Android and iPhone
Note : I tried this method on Xiaomi Mi Mix and on iPhone 7 Plus. Although we have only demonstrated the steps for an Android device, the procedure is virtually identical for an iPhone and works perfectly on both devices.
Usually when we are in the middle of a conversation on WhatsApp and we want to send a photo, we simply try to attach the photo. However, not really the case here. Simply follow the steps below to get this result in seconds:
- First, open WhatsApp on your phone and tap the icon "Paperclip" to attach the image you want to send. Well, we will not use the gallery to attach the photo. Instead, we will link it as a document. So simply touch "Document" and select the option "Browse other documents …" .
- Now, since the images you are about to send are usually found in the Gallery, you will have to browse the folder where you have your photos and select the specific photo . Once found, touch "OK" .
- At this point you will be asked to send the image to the specific contact. Once submitted, you can check whether the image was compressed or not by checking the detailed information of the file, as shown in the figure below.
Well, that's pretty much the whole process. Instead of sending it as a photo, we are sending the image file as a document, in order to prevent WhatsApp from compressing it. You will notice that if you send the image as a document, you will not get the preview of the image as you normally would, when you try to send a photo on WhatsApp.
