It caused a sensation when Esprinet, always a distributor, decided to open a site for sale to the end user. These were the years of the great boom in e-commerce and expansion, even in the side markets of large distributors. Monclick had then found in its Esprinet offer its location and also its vocation. Today, another piece of news is going to cause a sensation: the sale of Monclick to Project Informatica for 4 million euros. The transaction is part of the process of enhancing the non-core activities and further focusing on the business-to-business technology distribution. Esprinet has announced, in fact, that it has completed the sale of 100% of the share capital of the subsidiary Monclick Srl, operating in the sale of technology in e-commerce mode to end customers, for a total value of ? 4.0 million paid in cash.
Purchaser Project Informatica S.p.A., one of the main Italian IT system integrators, through a 100% owned group company. Monclick is one of the leading Italian e-tailers of computer and electronic products sold through the website www.monclick.it, also present in France and in the last two years, capitalized its know-how in the online management of product catalogs and, in general, in the management of web portals intended for a public of private consumers as well as in the management of promotional operations on technological products.
The agreements with the buyer also include the stipulation of collateral agreements aimed at guaranteeing the maximum fluidity to the exit of Monclick from the Esprinet group and regulate the future commercial relations between Monclick and Esprinet.
In 20131 Monclick achieved a turnover of 97.8 million euros, with an EBIT of 1.7 million – against an operating loss of 451 thousand euros in 2012 – and a net profit of 1.1 million ( -343 thousand euros 2012). An important day for us – commented Alberto Ghisleni, Sole Director of Project Informatica and Chairman of the new Monclick Board of Directors – this acquisition represents a milestone in the history of our group, as it allows us to diversify our portfolio of activities by integrating a company like Monclick that represents excellence in online sales in Italy. We are very proud of this operation that allows us to make our human capital of great level and experience, this for us the first of the strengths of this company. I am sure Ghisleni concluded – that the perfect understanding between the two companies and the continuous exchange of skills acquired on different audiences will allow them to work in symbiosis to face the challenge launched by the new ways of working in mobility that lead to an ever greater convergence of consumer needs within the company.
With Project Informatica we have found a perfect understanding and a shared vision – comments Federica Ronchi, General Manager of Monclick – which allows us, on the one hand, to continue to invest in our core business, represented by online sales to consumer users, and on the other to open up to new market scenarios. The deep knowledge of the ecommerce market, combined with flexibility, reactivity towards new business models and the willingness to invest in strengthening the competitive position will be the functional assets for the development of Monclick. Entering the Project Group will allow us to participate in stimulating projects, sharing the desire to create a unique and innovative reality on the Italian market.
Thanks to the recently concluded operation, the Project group will generate a business volume of more than 160 million euros.
