If you want to simplify the display of icons on the Windows 7/8/10 desktop, you can "remove" the labels from the desktop icons.
Before showing how to remove labels on desktop icons, you need to know that there are two types of desktop icons. There are the standard shortcut icons that you can create for the programs you install and there are desktop icons that you can place on the desktop for common functions like Computer and Trash. You can say that an icon is a shortcut if there is an arrow in the lower left corner of the icon, as shown below.
The method to remove text from each of these different types of icons.
Remove the text from an icon on the desktop
To remove text from desktop icons such as Computer and Trash, right-click on the desktop icon and select Rename from the popup menu.
Press the space bar to type a space where the text was located and press Submit .
The desktop icon now looks like there is no text below.
NOTE: You can add and remove desktop icons by right-clicking on the desktop, choosing Customize from the popup menu and by clicking on the link Change icons on the desktop on the screen Customization . It is the dialog box appears Desktop icon settings, which allows you to activate and deactivate the desired desktop icons.
Remove text from a link
To remove text from a link, right-click the link icon and select Rename from the popup menu.
This time, instead of typing a space, hold down the button alt and type 255 on the numeric keypad. Awards Submit . Note that you need to use the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard, not the one located above the letter keys. Not sure why, but it only works when you use the keyboard on the right.
For some shortcuts, the dialog box of may appear access to file denied . In this case, click Keep it going to finish renaming the link.
The link now appears to have no text below it.
The second thing to note about this method will only work with an icon on the desktop. If you try to use ALT + 255 for a second icon, say that another icon already exists with the same name. In this case, you need to use ALT + 255 several times.
For example, for the second desktop icon, type ALT + 255, ALT + 255, and then press Enter. For a third icon, you would do it three times, etc. Etc.
NOTE: it is recommended to remove only the text from the desktop icons and the link icons if the icons are easily identifiable without text. To enjoy!
