One of the museums of the Smithsonian group in Washington, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum (which is in New York), has awarded the "National Design Award for Corporate Achievement" which will be awarded to the White House with an official ceremony.
Among 400 architects and designers taken into consideration, Frank O. Gehry (a Santa Monica architect who recently designed the titanium museum Solomon R. Guggenheim in Bilbao) and Apple in the persons of Steve Jobs and Jonathan Ive who is in head of Apple's design team (in total there were seven categories).
Apple is considered, in motivation, "part of contemporary American art and everyday life, like television and the car".
The iMac had already won the "Industrial Designers' Society of America" last year with the motivation "Design of the last decade".
