In 2016, SPID, the "public digital identity system", the unique login system for accessing public services and private members, enters into force. With this system every citizen comes into possession of his "digital identity", a fundamental step for the life of our country especially in view of the digitalization process that he so much needs.
This #ARUBAIT, the column created in collaboration with Aruba.itsui the most interesting trends in the world of technology and the web.
One year on, the citizens who have acquired this digital identity are 1.5 million, they were 1 million in January 2017. But what is it and what is SPID for?
What is SPID
SPID, conceived by the AgID (Agency for Digital Italy) is nothing more than a user name and a password, complex, that the citizen can obtain from an accredited provider. Once these credentials are obtained, which effectively sanction digital identity, the citizen will be able to have access to a whole series of online services of the Public Administration. To date, 3,656 administrations are providing 4,155 SPID-enabled services. They range from central PA services (INPS, INAIL, 730 online, etc …) to more than 3,400 one-stop shops. SUAP productive activities, passing through the services provided by the universities up to the agreement with MISE (Ministry of Economic Development) and MiBACT (Ministry of Heritage and Cultural Activities and Tourism) for single access to public wi-fi.
An important role within the SPID is that covered by the Identity Provider, that is, the managers of the Digital Identity. The Identity Provider provides the login credentials to the system (therefore the digital identities) and manages the user authentication processes. Today the active ones are: Aruba, Infocert, Poste Italiane, Sielte and Tim. These were also joined by Namirial S.p.A. and Register.it S.p.A.
Other actors are the Service provider, which provides digital services accessible through login with SPID credentials, and the Attribute provider, which provides attributes that qualify users (states, roles, titles, positions), aimed at the use of services.
What is SPID for?
Through this system the citizen has the possibility of accessing online services, which continue to grow steadily. And so we go from services such as the INPS certificate, to the payment of the Tasi or the car tax, a fine or university fees; from the request for a health service to the consultation of the Cud. Thanks to Spid, therefore, you have access to the services provided by INPS, Inail, the Revenue Agency, Regions and Municipalities. All through a unique code. The Spid also serves to access the teacher's card online and to use 18 bonus apps. The first one allows teachers, teachers and professors to get the 500 euro bonus for their professional training. The second, allows children of age to get the 500 euro culture bonus.
Furthermore, the SPID also gives access to public services internationally, within the European Union. All online, through any device connected to the Internet (smartphone, PC, tablet).
SPID at the moment free for the first two years, then it will be paid, even if on this aspect there is still not much clarity.
