Recently, Internet Explorer had some strange problems on my Windows 7 machine and instead of spending hours trying to figure out what caused the problem, I decided to reinstall the whole operation! Well, it solved my problem and that's why I'm writing about it.
Method 1 – Windows functionality
Depending on the version of Windows 7, it is possible to install IE 8, IE 9, IE 10 or IE 11 by default! Regardless of the version of IE installed, it is possible to uninstall and reinstall IE simply by going to the Control Panel. In the control panel, click Programs and features . If you don't see the list as below, change the display with Icons small or Great .
Then click on the link Activate and deactivate Windows functionality active in the left pane.
In the dialog box, simply deselect the Internet Explorer X box.
You will receive a message informing you that it could affect other programs, etc. Etc. Don't worry, it won't cause any problems to your system. Just click S .
Now go ahead and restart your computer, then go back to the same dialog and double-check Internet Explorer. I will reinstall it and hopefully all the problems you had will be gone.
Method 2 – Installed updates
There is also a second way to reinstall Internet Explorer in Windows 7. Instead of clicking Enable and disable Windows functionality in the top Control Panel screenshot, click View installed updates .
Now scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section and you will find Internet Explorer:
Click on that and then click on the button Uninstall which appears at the top. So to reinstall IE, you can go to the IE homepage and download the latest version:
I'm not 100% sure about the difference in using one method over another, but you can try both if you find that a method doesn't solve your problem. If you have any questions, feel free to post a comment. To enjoy!
