iTunes Music Store: 50 million songs in Europe
It is also a record for the European iTunes Music Stores: 50 million songs sold in a year of service availability. To announce it Apple itself, with a release released in the day today.
The figure of 50 million songs in an even more significant year if we consider that the launch of European stores took place a year ago, but initially concerned only Germany, England and France. Last fall alone was the extension to the euro area countries and only a few weeks ago countries like Switzerland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark were involved.
There are currently 19 stores operating in as many countries. The European iTunes Music Stores have catalogs of over 1 million songs each, and offer the music of the major record labels and over 1000 independent labels.
"We are happy to have sold and offered over 50 million songs in our first year," said Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of Applications. "We want to thank European music fans for making iTunes so successful."
