Update of last year's 9.7-inch version, with A10 processor, Apple Pencil support and cheaper price
The rumors had foreseen it and eventually arrived punctually: it is the new 9.7-inch iPad, a version specially designed for the student audience that Apple launched a few minutes ago in Chicago, during an event dedicated to the education sector. The gadget differs from the usual offer of Apple tablets for at least a couple of aspects: first of all, even though it is a standard family device (ie not belonging to the most advanced group of Pro models) designed for support the Apple Pencil digital stylus; especially for more affordable than the previous version, since it arrives on the market at the starting price of 359 euros against the 409 requested last year for the predecessor.
The gadget in all respects an updated version of the classic iPad updated the last time in March last year. Inside is therefore the A10 Fusion processor, which moves the latest iPhones and optimized for augmented reality applications on which Apple will bet a lot in the months to come, and no longer the A9. The display is a high definition Retina unit based on LCD technology, the cameras are updated but the resolutions remain at 8 Mpixels for the rear unit and 1.2 for the rear unit, while the battery should guarantee a 10-hour autonomy.
The most interesting innovations for the students are two. The first is the already anticipated support for the Apple Pencil, which so far could only be used on the more expensive models of the iPad Pro line: the accessory remains optional (to buy it, it takes 99 euros), but on the latter iPad you can use it freely and with all the precision that characterizes its use on the iPad Pro. The second novelty is a discount program offered to schools that plan to buy the tablet and its Apple Pencil.
For all those who intend to buy the new iPad directly, the site of the Cupertino house has already opened sales: the only wi-fi model with 32 GB of memory included costs 359 euros, but to have 128 (there are no intermediate options) you need to shell out 449; the versions with cellular connectivity are instead costing respectively 489 and 579 euros.
