The Milan fashion week ended with spotlights and flash points. Partner of the event and of the Camera della Moda was Canon which had a space set up in via Mercanti in Milan where it welcomed visitors showing all the latest news. From video cameras to the most compact cameras, calculators and multifunction printers. Many new colors (for a new design) of the Ixus range which abandons the rounded shapes (in the 500 and 510 versions) to become more severe in the forms, but certainly not in the bright and beautiful colors.
And then the new jewel by Canon, the PowerShot G1 X. Among the many noteworthy features we mention the sensor Canon high-sensitivity CMOS, designed exclusively for this camera, with the aim of achieving the same pixel size and sensitivity as the APS-C sensor in Canon EOS reflex cameras, the 14.3 megapixel CMOS sensor 4: 3 included in the PowerShot G1 X size 18 , 7 mm x 14 mm and similar – in height – to the APS-C sensor used in the Canon EOS range. The sensor has the same pixel size and structure as the one on the EOS 600D, and a surface about 6.3 times larger than the PowerShot G12 sensor. The ability to capture the light of the new sensor 4.5 times higher than the sensor in the PowerShot G12, and offers superb image quality even in the most critical lighting conditions. The sensor design included with the PowerShot G1 X takes advantage of the professionalism of the sensor development team for Canon SLRs, and inherits many of the same technologies found in the EOS models. The sensor uses the on-chip noise reduction technique to deliver incredible shots with minimal noise, while the 4-channel read-out enables fast performance and high responsiveness. In collaboration with the powerful DIGIC 5 processor, the sensor is part of Canon's most powerful HS System to date, for excellent low-light performance. The PowerShot G1 X offers an ISO range from 100 to 12,800 at full resolution, perfect for shooting in a wide range of lighting conditions. To offer precise control of the ISO value in automatic mode, the Auto ISO adjustment function allows users to pre-set the maximum ISO sensitivity (up to 1,600) that they intend to use during shooting. Users can also specify how the camera sets the ISO value to achieve the best balance between image quality and shutter speed to freeze the movement of the subject. These are some of the innovations presented by Canon on an exceptional occasion such as Milan pret a porter, a wonderful week of color and images, perfect stage for high quality imaging tools.
