  2. Settings Menu: Go to Start> Settings> Devices> Bluetooth and other devices. At the top of the right panel, slide the Bluetooth switch to the On position.

Whatever method you use to activate Bluetooth on Windows 10, once you have activated it correctly, you will see a Bluetooth icon in the taskbar.

Given the large number of devices that use Bluetooth, it is impossible to cover them all. However, if you want to associate a device with a Windows computer, you need to make sure that Bluetooth is active on both devices.

On Android

Once you've successfully paired your devices, you'll see them listed at the bottom of the Bluetooth settings page: mouse, keyboard, pen or in the section Other devices.

You must manage the list of associated devices in a prudent way. If you leave the list of paired devices too long, you lose track of the devices you use and make the devices vulnerable to security regulations.

Remove a device from the list of simple associated devices. Again, go to Start> Settings> Devices> Bluetooth and other devices. Scroll down the page and you will see all the devices associated with the computer.

To remove a device, click on its name to highlight it, then select the button Remove. Click on S in the popup window to confirm your decision.

Advanced settings

There are a couple of advanced settings you should be aware of. Go to Start> Settings> Devices> Bluetooth and other devices, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Other Bluetooth options. A new window will open.

  • Allow Bluetooth devices to find this PC: if you want to leave your Bluetooth connection active, but do not want new devices to be displayed (for example, if you use the computer in a public area), deselect the checkbox.
  • Notify me when a new Bluetooth device wants to connect: need to leave this option enabled if you perform the pairing process from an external third-party device.
  • Show the Bluetooth icon in the notification area: if you leave Bluetooth turned on all the time, you can turn off this option so that the Bluetooth icon does not appear in the taskbar.

Bluetooth troubleshooting

If you can't get the Bluetooth connection on Windows 10, the most likely cause is a faulty Bluetooth driver. Several users have reported corrupted drivers after upgrading from Windows 7 and 8.

To check the Bluetooth driver, right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager. Expand the submenu Bluetooth, right-click on the Bluetooth driver and choose Update driver.

If no updates are found, you can try to choose Uninstall device and restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall a new copy of the drivers when the PC restarts.

To set up the Dynamic Lock function, first make sure you pair the device with your computer using the operations described below, then go to Settings> Accounts> Access Options> Dynamic Lock and mark the checkbox next to Allow Windows to detect your absence and automatically lock the device.
