Austin – Launched during SXSW, Glimpse is an app that allows users to share content securely: texts, photos, images that disappear after 8 seconds. After the 8 seconds have passed, the content is deleted – both from the app on the phone and from the Glimpse server. Everything you post is called Glimpse, peek. Now we understand the name of that name.
Imagine this app as a a fitness Snapchat. Why? Because it is not just an ephemeral sharing of content or text superimposed on images. It is also 360 degree security. The content really literally disappears after 8 seconds. Glimpse CEO Elissa Shevinsky explained to me that data logs are deleted "regularly", but more precisely, the business model based on goods and services offered in the premium version, which gives us the freedom to protect our users' data, rather than selling them to advertisers. Each Glimpse sent from one end to the other encrypted and the only way to unlock the content is to use the "private key" on the phone. Not even the Glimpse team can read or see the content, making it impossible for them to share any information, explained Amy Vernon, VP of Social at Glimpse. "Of course we will work with government officials, but we can't deliver the contents of the messages, because we don't have it", Adds Shevinsky.
If you don't want your counterpart to be able to take screenshots of the content you send them, you can put a key in them. The moment you try to take a screenshot of a blocked message the screen goes black, as Amy Vernon showed me.
Of course, it's about a private instant messaging app independently, so to use it you will have to convince your friends and partners to install it. But practically all you have to do. So whichever way your relationships evolve, you won't have to worry about any "files" that people have of you. Perch no one will have kept anything.
