The Finnish house is thrown into the world of tablets with the help of fans. The project is on track and the delivery is expected in May 2015
But where do you go if you don't have a tablet? Together with all the major smartphone manufacturers, Jolla must also have asked for it, already responsible for the phone with the same open source operating system Sailfish OS. The Finnish company has in fact decided to jump into the arena of tablets with Jolla Tablet, a product funded in crowdfunding through the Indiegogo platform.
As was to be expected, the campaign is going great: Jolla may not be a leading name in the mobile landscape, but among those with more chances of succeeding among the independent projects that aim at creating an alternative ecosystem. And the project is indeed interesting. Both because the basic technical specifications of the tablet include a 64-bit Intel quad-core processor, 32GB of internal memory expandable with microSD and LCDIPS 7.85 "display and 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution; both because the open source Sailfish operating system moves to version 2.0 promising refinements and new features while maintaining the compatibility with Android apps.
Jolla Tablet for not a finished product: there are still many details to be shaped and users can take part in the decision-making process via the dedicated forum. This is a decidedly curious aspect of the project, which also means that we will not see the tablet on the shelves very soon: the date scheduled for marketing in factMay 2015.
Italy obviously excluded from the first round, which leave three options to those interested in entering the world of Jolla and Sailfish OS. Expecting a possible entry into the national market at the end of next year; vote on the specific page of the site so that immediate distribution can also be considered by us; jump on Jolla Phone, the phone arrived here a handful of weeks ago and recently dropped to 299 euros.
