Have you connected to a local network but can't remember the password to access the public hotspot? If you have problems remembering the lost WiFi password you can ask for help from the devices already connected, which keep the password inside the system. In this guide I will show you all the procedures for find a WiFi password lost with a fast method, so that you can connect new devices to the networks you already know.
Find WiFi Password: how to recover it
We will see in this guide how to recover the password of a WiFi network through the various devices you have available, such as a Windows PC, a Mac or a modem / router from which you connect.
Find passwords from a PC with Windows
If you have a PC with a Windows operating system connected to the WiFi network whose password you can't remember, you can follow this simple procedure to recover the lost WiFi password.
Use your keyboard to simultaneously press the WIN + R keys, as shown below.
A small window will open where you can type the command ncpa.cpl followed by the Enter key on the keyboard.
You will see a window appear with all the network interfaces on your PC. To recover the lost WiFi password, just use the right mouse button on the icon Wireless network connection, then select the item State.
In the new window click on Wireless ownership and brought in the tab Safety, where you can see the password in the clear of the network you are currently connected to after clicking on the button Show characters. An explanatory image can be found here below.

Find password lost from a Mac computer
To find the lost WiFi password if you have a Mac you can use the following procedure:
- Press Command (the equivalent of the WIN key) + Space to open the search window
- Type Keychain Access and prizes Submit to launch the application that stores passwords on your Mac
- In the category Password find the name of the WiFi network, select it and use the button Info present in the lower part of the window (an "i" enclosed in a key)
- Use box Show password in the window that appears. If you have an administrator Mac account, just type in the username and password of your same account to view the lost WiFi password.
If you don't find the button Info application Keychain Access you just need to see the following image to find the lost WiFi password.
Find password from home modem / router
If you can't find the WiFi password lost with the methods described above or you want to find the password from a mobile device (Android or iPhone) you can access your router when you are connected to its WiFi network, so as to be able to recover the WiFi password lost from the device that actually manages it!
Make sure you are connected to the WiFi network from which you need to recover the password, open any web browser on the device you want to use to view the lost WiFi password (Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox is OK) and type in the address bar:
followed by the Enter key. If all goes well you will have the access screen for your modem / router, so just type in the username and password to access the main screen. Inside the latter you need to find the section Wireless, WiFi security, WiFi or wireless interface (the name changes according to the router model) and thus recover the WiFi password lost in the field Network key, Security, Passphrase or similar names.
